Invite Congress to April 21st CRT Briefing and Product Expo

CRT Stakeholders and Friends,

To continue to increase the understanding of CRT in Congress and gain additional support for our CRT legislation (HR-3229/S-2196 and HR-1516/S-1013) we are holding a “CRT Briefing and Product Expo” on Capitol Hill. The event will be held on Thursday April 21, 2016 in the House Cannon Building Room 340 between the hours of 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM.

The theme is “Ensuring Access to CRT for People with Disabilities: What Is Complex Rehab Technology? What Congressional Action Is Needed?”

The program is being presented by NCART, the United Spinal Association, and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, in coordination with the offices of Representatives Jim Sensenbrenner and Joe Crowley.

There will be 20 minute briefings repeated at 1:00 PM, 2:00 PM, 3:00 PM, and 4:00 PM. The briefings will each be followed by a Product Expo to allow attendees to walk around and have an interactive experience with CRT products.  The Expo will provide hands-on displays of CRT manual wheelchairs, power wheelchairs, seating and positioning products, and other equipment highlighting how CRT is different from DME.

People with disabilities, clinicians, providers, manufacturers, and other advocates will be in attendance to provide demonstrations and answer questions.

We Need Your Help to Get Your Members (and Staff) to Attend

This is a great educational opportunity to further demonstrate to Congressional Members and staff what CRT is all about and how they can help protect access.

To make the most of this event we need CRT stakeholders to reach out to your Member offices and get them to attend. Download the formal invitation with the details they need to know and send an email urging them to attend. You can also use this link to send a prepared invitation through our email system.

At Access2CRT.org you can find a listing of co-sponsors signed on to HR-3229/S-2196 (to protect access to wheelchair accessories used with both CRT manual and CRT power wheelchairs by prohibiting the application of Medicare competitive bidding rates) and of co-sponsors signed on to HR-1516/S-1013 (to create a Separate Benefit Category for CRT and provide needed improvements in coverage, coding, and standards).

Thanks for contacting your Member offices over the next few days and sharing the invitation.

Let us know if you have any questions or need assistance.

Regards,

Donald E. Clayback
